Tony Allen

Tony Allen (1940–2020) was a Nigerian drummer, songwriter, and musical director, widely regarded as one of the pioneers of the Afrobeat genre. Born in Lagos, he was a key collaborator with Fela Kuti, the genre's originator, playing in Kuti's band Africa '70 during the 1960s and 1970s.
